You can get help from the government to pay for apprenticeship training and assessment. The amount you get depends
on whether you pay the apprenticeship levy or not. You will pay the apprenticeship levy if you're an employer with a
pay bill over £3 million each year.
If your organisation has a UK pay bill over £3 Million you will be liable to pay the Apprenticeship Levy whether you
employ apprentices or not.
The Apprenticeship Levy is payable at a rate of 0.5% of the payroll cost through HMRC PAYE alongside income tax and
National Insurance.
If you pay the apprenticeship levy, you'll receive funds through the apprenticeship service to spend on training and
assessing your apprentices. The government will add 5% to these funds.
All employers have an allowance of £15,000 to offset against their Levy. The Levy allowance is not a cash payment and
can only be used to against apprenticeship training.
The Apprenticeship Levy can also be used to upskill and develop your existing staff or new employees.
